Choosing your web’s visitors
This time, the inaccurate reporting comes from The Register. In Firefox fans too frumpy for Beautifulpeople.net they claim that
Attempting to view beautifulpeople.net using Firefox (7 million users and counting) results in the following terse message:
BeautifulPeople.net is only supported by Internet Explorer. You are currently using version: Netscape 5.0. To be able to use. BeautifulPeople you need to update to a newer version of Internet Explorer.
What they forgot to mention is that just below that message, the page displays another one:
If you do not wish to update your browser but would like to continue even though BeautifulPeople will not work as is intended, click here
And if you do click ‘there’, you can see that their site has a horrible design which is totally broken in Firefox.
Personally, I don’t see where is the problem. This company has chosen to not offer their services to that smart and well-informed part of the Internet population that uses this great browser. So why should those people care? It is not like they need this kind of services. And even if, hypothetically speaking, Firefox users would need of such services, heck, there are many other companies out there with better web development teams that can surely help.

There are quite a few sites like this popping up all over the net - I guess people are sick of warehouses such as match.com. Some of the sites aren’t going for just beautiful people though, others strive for other qualities. http://www.rightstuffdating.com/ works based on your IQ and education level, http://www.rogueconnect.com/ is based on whether or not you’re the ‘life of the party’ as voted by other members.
