As you probably noticed if you read the Desktop Meme post, I have been using Yahoo! Konfabulator for a while. But the truth is that I don’t find it superuseful. The widgets are beautiful, and there are loads of them, but I don’t really do so much with them. For the most part, they just sit on the desktop, behind all my windows, and I just catch glimpses of the Flickr photos in Picture Frame, or the weather, when I open and close applications.
So I have decided to try Google Desktop, and see if I find an omnipresent toolbar more useful. I just installed it, and it seems interesting. Just out of the box and it is already recognizing some sites I visited this morning and showing the associated feed in the Web Clips panel. The What’s Hot panel is enticing; I can feel it emitting ‘click me, click me’ waves. I wonder where they get they ‘hot’ information from. What I find annoying is that for the moment they only provide weather for US cities.
And you, do you find any use in Konfabulator or Google Desktop (Sidebar)? Or do you think these are just fun geeky toys with little practical use?

I find much more useful Mac Dashboard Widgets… yo get the over the contect whenever you want them… and your desktop is pretty clean.
I’ve also used Yahoo! Konfabulator since I saw your desktop in the Meme… but I agree with you, they’re very beautiful… but not very useful.
Do Mac Dashboard Widgets work with Konfabulator? What widgets do you find the most useful?
Well, for the moment I use the Mac Mini as media center, so I haven’t explored it enough… I will post in a few weeks, since I’ll be switching to Mac this weekend … if I can
I look forward to your post, Gonzalo!
